Anxiety, fear, tension… these are the emotions that run into your mind when you go to the hospital for getting admitted. It may be for medical treatment, surgery or child birth… it is like a day of examination.
At this time it is important that you try to stay calm, stick to the time line and proceed with confidence. You tend to forget some important things or instructions and that may add to unnecessary stress.
Use of a checklist at this point can be a good hand holding guide to prevent these problems that occur at the last moment. Patient Safety Alliance, a charity organization that works on preventing medical errors devised this checklist. This checklist will help you to ensure a very smooth experience all throughout. The checklist has three parts. Each part of the checklist should be done at specific points or steps:
- Before you leave for the hospital
- When you are admitted to the hospital
- When discharge formalities are done
You should read the question and ensure that the task is completed.
I am sure that the checklist will really help you to ensure that you receive right care and right time.
